Renklerin İzinde - The exhibition on mythology is waiting for visitors at CKM until January 31st!

Today, I attended the opening of the "In the Trail of Colors" (Renklerin İzinde) Culture and Art Community's exhibition on the theme of "Mythology," which is the final stop of their trilogy at Istanbul's Caddebostan Cultural Center.

This collective group, consisting of people from various professions interested in painting, regularly comes together to create artwork based on a common theme. This time, they shaped their works within the framework of the mythology theme for the third part of the trilogy. The first two legs of the exhibition took place in Bursa and Ayvalık.

Despite being a collective project, it pleased me as a colorful person to see almost everyone from diverse professional backgrounds choosing vibrant colors consistently. For those who love mythology and lively colors, I can say it's an exhibition that will leave you with positive feelings as a viewer. :)

The exhibition can be visited at Caddebostan Cultural Center, 4th floor, Foyer area, until January 31.

Furthermore, at the final stop of this trilogy, I had the opportunity to meet and have a brief conversation with Pınar Ülker, the spokesperson and curator of the "In the Trail of Colors" Culture and Art Community.

Why did you choose the theme of mythology for this exhibition? What message do you intend to convey with this exhibition, and what can you say about the target audience of the exhibition?

We wanted to look at human history through the lens of mythology with this exhibition and demonstrate how people can coexist. We can say that our exhibition particularly appeals to enthusiasts of art, history, and mythology.

How did the Colors in the Trail community come together? How many years have you been working together?

Our community formed as a result of individuals from different professional backgrounds becoming interested in the art of painting, seeking to develop themselves through education and drawings in this field. We opened our first exhibition in 2019. Today, we have gathered with you in our 8th exhibition.

Do you decide on the theme to work on in exhibitions together? Can you talk a bit about the preparation process?

When choosing exhibition themes, our community members focus on both acquiring knowledge to satisfy their curiosity and transferring what they've learned onto the canvas. In previous exhibitions, we preferred selecting themes from art history for the same reason. For example, in the exhibition we held on Büyükada, the theme was blue, reflecting Picasso's blue period. We decide on themes together by drawing from different art movements or periods in art history. After deciding on the theme and setting the exhibition date, our friends who wish to participate in the exhibition apply; if their works are found suitable for the chosen theme, their artworks earn the right to be displayed.

Are you a well-established community, or can artists who wish to do so contact you to join the community?

Our community is always open to new members. Friends who are willing to create works suitable for the chosen theme and enjoy painting can contact us through social media.

What can you say about your future works?

In our upcoming exhibitions, we once again want to interpret different periods, drawing inspiration from art history.
